Location: Discovering a Lavender Field in Roseburg, Oregon

One of the highlights of the summer was discovering Growing Miracles Lavender Garden. It was the perfect spot for a family photography session, and we couldn’t have asked for a more breathtaking backdrop.
As soon as we arrived, we were welcomed by rows upon rows of fragrant lavender plants, stretching out as far as the eye could see. The air was filled with the sweet aroma of lavender, and the gentle buzz of bees working their way from flower to flower.
We spent some time exploring the field, admiring the colorful blooms and the serene beauty of the landscape. The rows of lavender provided endless photo opportunities. We had so much fun taking pictures in the different areas of the field.
If you ever find yourself in the Roseburg area during the summer, make sure to stop by this stunning lavender field. It’s truly a sight to behold, and a perfect location for a memorable family photography session.

Preparing for the Photoshoot: Tips and Ideas for Outfits and Props

Neutrals, light summer colors, not using more than one pattern and comfortable clothes – these are some of the basic tips to follow when choosing outfits for a photo shoot in a lavender field. The key is to keep it simple, as the focus should be on the family and the beautiful backdrop of the field.
In terms of props, there are a few fun and creative ideas that can add to the photoshoot experience. Some families may want to bring along a picnic basket and blanket to enjoy a snack or meal in the field, while others may opt for keeping it simple and using the beautiful lavender flowers in the field.
No matter what outfits and props are chosen, the most important thing is to have fun and be comfortable during the photoshoot. This will help capture genuine and natural moments that truly reflect the love and connection within the family.

Capturing the Moments: Highlights of the Family Photography Session

One of the best things about this photo shoot was how relaxed and natural it felt. I encouraged the family to simply enjoy the experience and have fun with each other. They were able to be themselves, without any pressure to pose or force any awkward smiles. Although, I provided plenty of guidance and directior to place them in flattering and natural positions. This created an atmosphere of joy and authenticity that shines through in the final images.
Another great aspect of the lavender fields was how they provided a stunning backdrop for the family photos. The purple hues of the flowers contrasted beautifully with their outfits and brought a pop of color to the pictures.
Overall, this family photography session in the lavender fields of Roseburg, Oregon was an unforgettable experience.

You don't have to know what you're doing

Most families come in a little unsure, wondering if their kids will cooperate, if it will feel awkward, or if they’ll know what to do. That’s completely normal.

With over 7 years of professional photography experience I’ll guide you when you need it, step back when the moment is already there, and create space for things to unfold naturally. You don’t have to perform or have it all together. You just get to be with your people.

The kind of stories and thoughts I’d probably share over a favorite warm drink, plus a few favorite finds here and there.

Mostly because I love feeling connected beyond the photos.
