Hi, I'm Sadie Peterson. St. George Photogrpher who specializes in family photos. I'm  so glad you're here.

Brosi Sugar Tree Farms

Brosi Sugar Tree farms is a pretty iconic spot in Douglas county. This beautiful farm can be seen from the highway and the blossoms in the Spring are not something to be missed. While the spring blossoms are stunning, there is lots to see and do there almost year-round. They host a fall festival, fruit picking, and of course a beautiful setting for family photos. Because this is private property, photographers are required to get permission from the owner to use the land for photos.

Picking outfits for Spring Family Photos

While Brosi Sugar Tree Farms provides a stunning backdrop for your family photos, there are a few things that you can do to ensure your outfits compliment the beauty around you.

Here are a few tips to help you pick out outfits for your spring family photos:

  1. Stick to soft neutrals. Now, I know you hear “neutral” and you think sad beige baby, right? Soft neutrals are just colors in their softer state. For example rather than picking a bright blue, pick a baby blue.
  2. Avoid stark white. I know this sounds funny, but because there is so much color in the spring, white can be tricky to photograph because it will often have a green cast on it. Instead, opt for cream or an off-white.
  3. Pick 2-3 colors for you entire family. A few colors makes the perfect combination, but too many colors can be too busy. I love creams, pinks, blues, tan/khaki, mauve, and depending on the location, soft and dark greens can work really well too.

What to expect at your family photo session

Because spring in Roseburg, Oregon is..well, unpredictable to say the least, the weather is something we work around. Because I want to offer you and your family the best possible family photo experience, if the weather isn’t looking nice, we will reschedule. I don’t charge any sort of rescheduling fee.

At your session, you can expect to have a good time. I know that every photographer says that you will have fun, but I promise, this is what my business is built on. I have less enthusiastic spouses leave sessions and saying how much they enjoyed their time. In the last 5 years, I have truly mastered the art of creating a relaxed environment and keeping everyone engaged. We will work through a variety of poses, prompts, and games (yes, games!) to bring out those big belly laughs and genuine smiles.

Behind the Camera: Meet Sadie

You don't have to know what you're doing

Most families come in a little unsure, wondering if their kids will cooperate, if it will feel awkward, or if they’ll know what to do. That’s completely normal.

With over 7 years of professional photography experience I’ll guide you when you need it, step back when the moment is already there, and create space for things to unfold naturally. You don’t have to perform or have it all together. You just get to be with your people.

The kind of stories and thoughts I’d probably share over a favorite warm drink, plus a few favorite finds here and there.

Mostly because I love feeling connected beyond the photos.
